**Job Description:**
Charge Capture Specialist I ED (Emergency Department) assigns charges for all ED encounters in the Peaks region. This position facilitates and captures appropriate charges in accordance with policies, procedures, documentation standards, and regulations. They ensure documentation supports the charge assigned and reflects the volume and intensity of resources utilized by the facility.
**Essential Functions**
+ Capture and post appropriate charges for clinical services provided by
+ A. Accurately assigning level, procedures, injections/infusions, and modifiers from the medical record utilizing appropriate definitions.
+ B. Ensuring that the clinical documentation supports the charges assigned
+ Apply internal, compliance, and regulatory guidelines to identify and appropriately charge for all facility interventions and services.
+ Identify opportunities, deficiencies and trends and communicate findings to HIM (Health Information Management) leadership.
+ Monitor, capture charges, and resolve issues in assigned Epic work queues.
+ Maintain defined productivity and accuracy standards.
+ Maintain national coding certification.
+ Work independently in a remote home office environment.

**Physical Requirements:**
**Qualifications**
+ Coding certification through American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and/or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) e.g., Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Registered Health Information Administrator or Technician (RHIA OR RHIT), Certified Coding Associate (CCA) is required
+ Working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology
+ Associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare related field, preferred
+ Experience with EPIC, 3M, TEAMS, and Excel, preferred
**Physical Requirements**
+ Ongoing need for caregiver to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
+ Frequent interactions with customers that require caregiver to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
+ Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
+ Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
+ For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$21.84 - $33.23
