Duties
Examples of Essential Functions
The essential functions typically performed by the Forensic Intern (Administrative Intern) assigned to the Ontario Police Department include the following:
- Provides clerical support including filing and updating records.
- Assists with case research; provides copies of cold case documents and case summaries.
- Maintains photo lab; uploads submitted photos and provides CD/print copies of photos upon request.
- Photographs minor incidents and assists with photography at major incidents.
- Processes items for latent fingerprints
- Maintaining supplies
- Calibrating equipment
- Collects and preserves evidence for later processing.
- Assists Forensic Specialists at major crime scenes.
- Assists with the maintenance of Forensic vehicles and supplies.
- Assists in coordinating the repair and replacement of IBIS units.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education
- Equivalent to completion of two years of college with major course work in Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, Physical/ Life Science, or a closely related field.

Acceptable forms of proof include Unofficial Transcripts, Official Transcripts, Photos and/or Photocopies of Institutional Degree/Certifications. Licenses
- Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment and throughout employment are required.
Desirable
- College enrollment or completion of Forensic Program with a concentration in Crime Scene Investigation and/or Latent Fingerprint Comparison.
- Photography experience with SLR digital cameras.
Special Requirements
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or during emergency incidents, as needed.
