The Location: Taconic Biosciences is seeking a Senior Manager Facilities West to join our dedicated Facilities team at the Cambridge City, IN site. Proximity within 30 miles of the Cambridge City site, or willingness to relocate, is required.

The Pay Range: $115,000 - $130,000. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions and could exceed the advertised salary range, however, please note that the upper end of the range is not guaranteed to be offered.

The Role:
The Senior Manager, Facilities West will lead the facilities function supporting both our Cambridge City, IN and Seattle, WA locations, with primary residency at the Indiana site. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of facilities, utilities, and equipment across the supported sites. You will oversee all aspects of maintenance, infrastructure projects, and vendor management while driving operational excellence and compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This role requires a strategic, hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multi-site operations, and is committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and customer service.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Leads the Facilities Department by delivering strategic direction, technical support and performs hands-on maintenance as necessary to ensure efficient operations.
  • Develops and champions a culture that prioritizes customer service, safety, compliance, and excellence.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance facility operations, eliminate waste and improve operational efficiency.
  • Interact and coordinate cross-functionally across the site and region to ensure quality communication and efficiency.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair and inspection of buildings and equipment using the CMMS system to assign and track the timely and effective completion of assigned work. 
  • Manage facilities projects, including renovations, equipment refurbishments, and new construction, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget, while meeting operational and quality standards.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts for services and suppliers, covering cleaning, grounds care, security, maintenance, parts, tools and supplies for the best value.
  • Responsible for staff hiring, training, mentoring, evaluations and the administration of progressive discipline. Staff of up to 10 individuals.
  • Facility asset control improving cost, quality, delivery and performance while preventing loss or waste.
  • Manages the facilities operating and project budgets, analyzing variances and identifying labor, utility, service, and supply cost-saving opportunities. 
  • Administers the building management system by performing technical troubleshooting of controls and adjustments to assure comfort and biosecurity compliance in animal holding rooms.
  • Provides 24/7 emergency maintenance support.
  • Travel as required to provide facilities support and achieve goals.
Education and Experience:
  • Hands-on technical expertise in commercial mechanical systems, including the ability to perform maintenance and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, or a related technical field required. Equivalent technical or managerial experience will be considered.
  • Certifications in Engineering, Technical Management, HVAC, Electrical, or a similar discipline with a focus on facilities equipment, systems, and construction are highly desirable.10+ years of relevant experience and/or training. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in facilities management within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Proven experience managing professional staff, with responsibility for supervising direct or dotted-line reports and overseeing project teams (typically 2–10 team members).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead senior-level decision-making and contribute to the development or revision of organizational policies and procedures.
  • Experience with specialized systems such as tunnel washers, clean rooms, steam generators, and emergency generators is a strong plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to draft technical reports, deliver presentations, and engage effectively with internal stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and vendors. Ability to navigate differing viewpoints and lead through influence.
Travel:
Occasional travel is required, generally 2-5 trips per year.
